The investigation is ongoing after mail luggage had been discovered within the Los Angeles space parking zone on TheHill
An investigation is underway after authorities reported they found stacks of unopened mail in two locations in Glendale, California this week.
Glendale Police Sgt. Christian Hauptmann said United States Postal Service staff asked for assistance Thursday morning with "possibly stolen mail or whatever was dumped in an alley," the Los Angeles Times reported. Hours later, there was a second call from a business owner who witnessed a similar incident in a nearby parking lot.
A local CW partner received footage from outside a spa showing a budget rental truck driving into a gate. A man then pulls bags of mail and parcels out of the vehicle and throws them to the ground.
The postal service declined to comment on the incidents or how they were related.
"The US Postal Inspection Service is the law enforcement, crime prevention and security division of the postal service," said spokeswoman Evelina Ramirez, according to the Times. "In order to maintain the integrity of their investigations and to prevent a fundamental injustice towards the objects of investigation, the US Postal Inspection Service does not comment on ongoing investigations."
The footage comes as the Democrats sounded the alarm about changes to the USPS by the Trump administration and these changes in service could result in voter suppression in the presidential election.
