The rich get richer

Jeffrey Katzenberg completed the third-most expensive home sale in California history, unloading his Beverly Hills property for $ 125 million in an off-market deal.

For the co-founder of DreamWorks Animation, this is a tremendous return on investment. Records show the film magnate paid $ 30 million for the property in 2009 and built a more than 26,000-square-foot mansion three years later.

The sale of the 6 acre estate is only possible through the purchase of the famous Warner estate by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for $ 165 million earlier this year and Lachlan's purchase of the Beverly Hillbillies Bel Air mansion Murdoch valued at $ 150 million through Fox Corp. Year.

Katzenberg, 69, was Chairman of Walt Disney Studios for a decade before co-founding DreamWorks Animation with Steven Spielberg and David Geffen. He left the studio in 2016 as chief executive to run media and technology investment company WndrCo before founding Quibi in 2018.

The royal treatment

Prince Harry and former Meghan Markle have focused on a home in the Santa Barbara area.

The $ 14.65 million property in Montecito was taken off the market in June. The tax records for the 7 acre property are consistent with the limited liability companies previously established by the Duchess of Sussex, according to Times records.

The spacious property, built in 2003, is secured and fenced off from the road and can be reached via a winding road. Behind the vine-covered entrance is a living room with a coffered ceiling, a billiards / games room, a home theater, wellness facilities, an elevator and a fitness studio.

There are nine bedrooms in the approximately 14,500 square meter main house. A two bedroom guest house, tea house, tennis court, swimming pool and special climbing frame are among the amenities of the property.

Decayed granite walkways wind through a rose garden, pool pavilion, arbor, and flower shed.

The 67-year-old Kerns has moved to the director's chair in recent years and has directed episodes of "Pretty Little Liars", "Scrubs" and "The Goldbergs", among others.

From the archives

It was 30 years ago when actor Mark Harmon and his actress wife Pam Dawber signed a contract in leafy Mandeville Canyon and sold their two-year house to film director Barry Levinson for "nearly $ 7.9 million." Harmon and Dawber have since moved to an elegant Tudor-style home in Brentwood Park. The 1920s residence was once the home of silent film actress Marjorie Daw.

Twenty years ago, actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen went to the beach for a short break while renting a house in Malibu. Described as one of the original beach houses in Malibu, the five-bedroom home was available to rent for $ 50,000 per month. The rent was necessary because Danson had sold his Malibu home the year before actor Michael Madsen.

It was 10 years ago when Jennie Garth, star of Beverly Hills, 90210, and Peter Facinelli, actor of Twilight, listed their Toluca Lake home for around $ 6 million. Designed by Paul R. Williams, the traditional-style house once belonged to country singer and actor Tex Ritter and was the childhood home of late actor John Ritter. The property would eventually sell for $ 3.99 million in 2013 – that same year, Garth and Facinelli went their separate ways.

What we read

A Paris mansion that sold for about $ 41.2 million that year had one very undesirable property – a corpse. Renovation work in the basement exposed the body, which is believed to have been there for 30 years, CNN reported. The building had been abandoned since the mid-18th century.

Architectural Digest took readers to the Pacific Palisades home of actor Sam Page and his wife Cassidy Elliott. The renovation of the tunnels resulted in a chic farmhouse-style interior that compliments the artisan's exterior.
