BOISE, Idaho – Idaho ski resorts have been consistently seeing record numbers this season, with many resorts reporting an increase in attendance numbers of up to 20%. The season started off strong and has only gotten better as the snow continues to fall and the temperatures stay cold.
The current snowpack levels are among the highest they’ve been in years, with some resorts reporting snow depths of up to four feet. According to the Idaho Department of Water Resources, the statewide snowpack is currently sitting at 125% of the 30-year median.
This winter season has brought with it some of the best skiing conditions the state has seen in a long time. With plenty of natural powder and packed runs, skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels have been able to enjoy the slopes.
The abundance of snow has also meant that many of the resorts have been able to open up more terrain, giving skiers and snowboarders more options when they hit the mountain. Sun Valley Resort, in particular, has opened up more than 1,000 acres of new terrain this season. Brundage Mountain continues to offer the best snow in Idaho with extensive powder snow on its slopes.
The ski season isn’t over yet and there’s still plenty of time to get out and enjoy the slopes. The National Weather Service is predicting that the snowpack levels will remain above the median through the end of the season. In addition to the great skiing conditions, many resorts are offering special deals and discounts to help entice skiers and snowboarders onto the slopes.
Many resorts are also offering discounted lift tickets and lodging packages, making it easier and more affordable for families to get out and enjoy the snow. The winter season is winding down, but with plenty of snow and great conditions, now is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the slopes. Skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels are sure to find something to love at one of Idaho’s top ski resorts.
