Peter Timoteo Smith Padilla was tragically struck and killed by a subway bus in East Los Angeles on Sunday, August 9th.
Padilla, 26, was hit near City Terrace Drive and Pomeroy Avenue at around 12:40 p.m. A subway bus spokesman said bus route 70 was heading east on City Terrace Drive and was approaching Pomeroy when the Padilla was hit. The spokesman has not released any further information about the accident that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating.
The CHP requests everyone with information about the fateful accident to call them at 323-980-4600.
FATAL TRANSIT BUS CRASH INVESTIGATION
During the investigation, the CHP will try to determine why the transit bus hit and killed Mr. Padilla.
Driver distraction, driver fatigue, mechanical errors, and driver errors are possible causes of bus or pedestrian accidents. Lack of experience and training can also play a role, and driving a large bus is very different from maneuvering a car or SUV.
In addition to the diligent work of the police force, Candice Bond, a veteran pedestrian accident attorney, said in such cases it was imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by an experienced attorney to protect a victim's family rights.
"Having the right resources is extremely important to investigating a transit bus accident case and demonstrating negligence," said Bond, managing partner at Bond Sanchez-Gordon. “Bus accidents are often complex and transit companies often use large law firms to defend a negligent driver. Road conditions, signage visibility, and street lighting are all possible factors that need to be considered and examined carefully. An attorney can advocate for a broken-hearted family who has lost a loved one by hiring experts, performing background checks on drivers, locating witnesses to the accident, and carefully walking them through legal process. "
CALIFORNIA FALSE DEATH ADVOCATE
Until the examination, the family of Peter Timoteo Smith Padilla may be entitled to an unlawful death. Family members of victims of unjustified death can seek compensation for loss of camaraderie, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this tragic incident.
"The stress and grief after losing a loved one in an accident can be extremely overwhelming," said Andrew Wright, attorney at Bond Sanchez-Gordon. “We understand exactly what families are going through and protecting their rights is critical. An unlawful death attorney will keep abreast of the official investigation and help protect his or her legal rights and interests. "
