Facebook Inc. received preliminary approval from a judge to settle a $ 650 million settlement to clarify claims made by users that the company illegally collected biometric data through a photo-tagging tool.
US District Judge James Donato initially approved the deal on Wednesday after Facebook sweetened the compensation by $ 100 million in July.
A final hearing for approval is scheduled for January 7th.
